Ryanair signs five-year Google Cloud deal, expands use of AI in airline operations

Ryanair has announced a five-year partnership with Google Cloud to integrate advanced AI technologies into its operations. The Irish airline, Europe's largest by passenger numbers, will deploy Google's Gemini AI tools and DeepMind models across its network. The deal will see Ryanair roll out Google Workspace and Cloud services to its 35,000 employees, aligning with its goal of carrying 300 million passengers annually by 2034.

CEO Eddie Wilson highlighted the need for resilient infrastructure and a dual-cloud strategy to support the airline's rapid growth and efficiency-focused approach. The partnership expands Ryanair's existing use of Amazon Web Services, aiming to minimize technology outages and enhance operational efficiency. Google Cloud's Vice President for the UK, Ireland, and Sub-Saharan Africa, Maureen Costello, emphasized the potential of generative AI in scaling securely, reducing operational costs, and transforming the travel experience.
