RON97 down 20 sen, unsubsidised RON95 down 15 sen

PETALING JAYA: The finance ministry announced price reductions for RON97 petrol, unsubsidised RON95, and diesel starting tomorrow. RON97 will now cost RM4.15 per litre, down 20 sen from the previous RM4.35. Unsubsidised RON95 will be priced at RM3.62 per litre, a 15 sen reduction from RM3.77. Unsubsidised diesel will retail at RM4.47 per litre, a 10 sen decrease from RM4.57.

However, RON95 under the BUDI95 scheme will remain at RM1.99 per litre, and diesel under the BUDI Diesel initiative will stay at RM2.10 per litre. Subsidised petrol under the SKPS system and subsidised diesel under the SKDS system will continue at RM2.05 and RM2.15 per litre, respectively. These new prices will be effective until August 19.

The ministry attributed the price changes to fluctuations in the global oil market in the past week, noting that crude oil prices rose nearly 5% on Monday due to concerns over the delayed reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The ministry warned that petroleum product prices are likely to remain volatile in the near future and encouraged the public to use fuel prudently, plan journeys efficiently, and minimize unnecessary travel to conserve fuel supplies and reduce subsidy expenditures.
