Police arrest four suspected armed robbers, cultists in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command announced the arrest of four individuals suspected to be part of a criminal gang involved in armed robbery, murders, and cult-related activities in the Ajah area of Lagos. In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebesi, disclosed that the suspects, Kareem Abiodun, 26; Tansiru Emmanuel, 29; Lateef Usman, 28; and Alashe Azeez, 32, were apprehended following a sustained investigation related to a recent robbery incident.

During the operation, the police recovered three locally-made pistols, one live ammunition piece, two battle axes, and a Point-of-Sale machine from the suspects. Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang was linked to recent robbery activities in Ajah, Sangotedo, and Ibeju-Lekki areas of Lagos. The suspects also confessed to their involvement in armed robbery, murder, and cultism.

The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities are also working to apprehend other members of the gang and recover any additional exhibits in their possession. Once the investigation is complete, the suspects will be charged to court.

Chief Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, praised the police operatives for their diligence and continued efforts in tracking down the suspects. He urged them to maintain the momentum and intensify their efforts to apprehend additional gang members. Fatai also warned cultists, armed robbers, and other violent criminals that the police will continue to conduct intelligence-led operations to track them down and hold them accountable for their actions.

The Police Command encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities through their emergency lines for a prompt police response.
