Peguam Najib kemuka 109 bantahan terhadap pernyataan saksi bekas CEO 1MDB

Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and several individuals are accused of being involved in the misappropriation of funds from the now-defunct 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) entity, as per a USD5.64 billion civil suit filed by 1MDB. Peguam Najib Razak, Shafee Abdullah, has submitted 109 objections to former 1MDB president and CEO Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi's testimony in the USD5.64 billion civil suit filed by 1MDB.

The Attorney General's Chambers informed that Shafee has submitted 109 objections to Shahrol's testimony, citing hearsay and opinions. The legal team requires time to investigate these objections before presenting a counterargument in court. Shahrol is expected to testify after forensic accountant Angela Barkhouse completes her presentation.

However, her testimony has been delayed until tomorrow. According to 1MDB's opening statement, Shahrol is expected to testify about various stages of the alleged scheme. The suit seeks to recover approximately USD5.64 billion from Najib and several other individuals, alleging that the funds were misappropriated. The assets of the national wealth are held in four of Shahrol's subsidiaries - 1MDB Energy Holdings Ltd, 1MDB Energy Ltd, 1MDB Energy (Langat) Ltd, and Global Diversified Investment Company Ltd. The defendants named in the suit also include former 1MDB CEO Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil, former executive director of business development Casey Tang, and former deputy general manager of finance Terence Geh.

Other defendants include former investment manager Vincent Beng, former operations director Radhi Mohamad, and former investment director Kelvin Tan.
