Shafee bantah keterangan bekas CEO 1MDB bahawa Jho Low proksi Najib

Peguam kepada Najib Razak, Shafee Abdullah, has contested statements made by Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi, the former CEO and director of 1MDB, asserting that businessman Jho Low, a wanted individual, is a proxy of the former Prime Minister. This objection was raised after Shahrol quoted section 20.4 of his statement during the civil lawsuit proceedings against Najib and others.

Shafee argues that Shahrol's claim about Jho Low being a proxy for Najib is hearsay (based on secondhand information). He emphasizes that he only heard the statement from Najib himself, not from Shahrol's written statement. The Presiding Officer of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has ruled that the court will disregard the hearsay phrase in section 20.4 of Shahrol's statement.

1MDB's attorney, Nathalie Ker, informed the court that the plaintiff intends to file a written affidavit in the coming week to address Shafee's objection to Shahrol's oral testimony regarding the hearsay claim. 1MDB has dropped its lawsuit against the former CFO, Radhi Mohamad, reducing the six defendants in the case, including Najib.

The court agreed to finalize the settlement between the plaintiff and Radhi. The settlement agreement will be recorded at the court today, and the lawsuit against Radhi will be dismissed without further action. Both the plaintiff and defendant agreed to the terms of the settlement, expressing gratitude for the plaintiff's cooperation in resolving the matter. The judge then ordered Radhi, the remaining defendant, to be dropped from the proceedings.
