Osun poll: Lawyer seeks UK sanctions against senator over incitement

Deji Adeyanju, a legal practitioner based in Abuja, has called on the UK government to impose sanctions on Senator Francis Fadahunsi and other family members. The call came after Adeyanju alleged that Fadahunsi threatened members of the Accord Party in a video during a campaign rally in Yoruba language. The senator was alleged to have said, “From now on till the election day, whenever you see them (Accord Party members), kill them.”

Adeyanju stated that the UK's action would send a strong message against politicians undermining Nigeria's democratic process. The request was forwarded to the British High Commission in Abuja on August 12, 2026.
