Osun poll: Lawyer seeks UK sanctions against senator over incitement

An Osun State senator, Francis Fadahunsi, has reportedly made remarks threatening members of the Accord Party ahead of the upcoming governorship election, according to a legal practitioner, Deji Adeyanju. Adeyanju has urged the British government to impose a visa ban on Fadahunsi and other members of his family due to the alleged incitement.

The letter was addressed to the British High Commissioner in Abuja and was delivered on August 12, 2026. The remarks allegedly captured in a video involved Fadahunsi addressing supporters in Yoruba and threatening to kill members of the Accord Party. The British High Commission received the letter on the same day, and copies of the publications and a flash drive containing the video were attached for reference.

Adeyanju argued that the comments subverted the will of the Nigerian people and undermined the rule of law, calling for stronger measures against Nigerians who undermine the country's democratic process.
