One killed, three injured in Durban horror accident

A man lost his life and three others sustained injuries in a devastating accident on the N2 highway near Durban in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). The collision occurred just after the M7 Edwin Swales turnoff on Tuesday night, leaving a trail of wreckage and chaos in its wake. Paramedics rushed to the scene to find two vehicles entangled in a severe rear-end crash.

They discovered that one male occupant, believed to be in his thirties, had sustained major injuries and could not be saved, being declared dead at the scene. The other three injured passengers from both vehicles were treated on-site before being transported to nearby Durban hospitals for further care. The circumstances leading to the crash remain unclear, but the SA Police Service and Metro Police are conducting an investigation into the incident.

Additionally, heavy rains, light snowfall, and hazardous road conditions have caused multiple accidents across Ekurhuleni, prompting the Metropolitan Police Department to issue urgent safety warnings. Motorists are advised to reduce their speed, maintain a safe distance, use headlights in low visibility, and avoid crossing flooded roads or bridges as the province faced its worst cold snap in recent years with temperatures at multi-year lows.
