Nigeria-India trade hits $9bn, up 26% in one year – Envoy

Bilateral trade between Nigeria and India grew by 26% to reach $9 billion in the 2025-26 financial year, according to the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Abishek Singh. Singh made the announcement during a media briefing in Abuja, stating that this marked a significant increase from $7.13 billion in the previous year. Indian companies operating in Nigeria have created approximately 100,000 jobs for Nigerians, making them the second-largest employer of Nigerian workers after the Federal Government.

Singh emphasized that the growth in trade reflects the deepening strategic partnership between the two nations, which has expanded beyond oil and traditional ties to encompass investment, security, technology, agriculture, healthcare, energy, and other sectors.
