Nashik: Dengue Cases Rise After Rains; 19 New Cases, 670 Suspected Cases Reported In A Week

In Nashik, a spike in dengue cases has been observed following a period of rainfall. Over the past week, nineteen individuals have contracted the disease, and the Health Department has identified 670 suspected cases. The Municipal Corporation has responded by issuing direct notices to property owners in areas with mosquito breeding sites.

During July, the city recorded thirty-three dengue cases, but the number has risen to nineteen in the first week of August alone. In response to the outbreak, the Health Department is conducting inspection drives in hotspot areas, with a focus on identifying stagnant water, potholes, and mosquito breeding sites. Municipal teams are also deploying door-to-door inspections in densely populated regions to prevent mosquito breeding.

Authorities have warned that those found with mosquito breeding sites on private properties or within institutions will face direct notices and potential punitive action. The spread of dengue and other epidemic diseases is attributed to stagnant rainwater and changing weather conditions. Patients are receiving treatment at private hospitals, and the Health Department has advised citizens to take precautions against water stagnation around their homes and to seek immediate medical attention if symptoms arise.
