McGonigle drives in three to lead Tigers past Guardians 6-4

Kevin McGonigle played a pivotal role in the Detroit Tigers' 6-4 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday night. The outfielder not only drove in three runs but also contributed to the pitching staff's success. Drew Anderson, McGonigle's teammate, started the game and struck out four while walking two over his four innings of one-run ball.

Jacob Waguespack added to the relief effort with two scoreless innings as the win was secured. Spencer Torkelson's second-inning double set the tone, but Chase DeLauter's 13th homer of the season tied the game in the third. McGonigle's two-run double in the fifth inning solidified the Tigers' lead. Gleyber Torres added one more run with an RBI single.

The Guardians managed to bring the score back to 4-2 in the seventh inning, but the Tigers extended their advantage in the bottom half. Javier Báez capitalized on a Guardians' error to score, solidifying the Tigers' four-run lead. Jo Adell's 428-foot shot in the eighth did not contribute to a comeback. Kenley Jansen sealed the game with his 14th save, allowing only one run in the ninth.

Tanner Bibee pitched 6 1/3 innings for Cleveland, giving up four runs on five hits while striking out four.
