Korea, India vow closer ties in customs affairs

The Korean Customs Service (KCS) has announced plans to strengthen cooperation with its Indian counterpart, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, to facilitate smoother trade between the two nations. This agreement was reached after a meeting on Tuesday in New Delhi between KCS officials and representatives from India's customs board.

During the discussions, the KCS shared instances of Korean businesses operating in India that have encountered difficulties with customs procedures. The Indian government has been invited to assist in streamlining customs clearance processes for these firms.

The two countries, recognizing India's significant role as a partner in the Asia-Pacific region, plan to expand their cooperation in the future. This may include initiatives such as training programs to help Korean firms overcome the challenges they face when exporting to India. Han Min, the director general for international affairs at the KCS, emphasized this intention in a recent statement.
