JAMB lists errors UTME, DE candidates should avoid during profile creation

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned prospective candidates against making mistakes when creating their profiles for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) or Direct Entry registration. JAMB emphasized that a minor error during the profile creation stage can lead to significant issues later in the admission process.

This warning was part of a new advisory video released under JAMB's "JAMB Explained" series on their X handle on Wednesday. The advisory, aimed at "fresh candidates," focused on errors related to names and dates of birth, stating that these mistakes could cause problems in the admission process.

The board advised candidates to carefully verify their name, date of birth, and other details linked to their National Identity Number (NIN) before creating their JAMB profile. They emphasized that JAMB obtains candidates' details from their records with the National Identity Management Commission, not from JAMB itself. This means that if there is an error in a candidate's name or date of birth, JAMB cannot rectify it after registration.

The board also cautioned candidates against believing that obtaining an affidavit would automatically correct their records with JAMB.

JAMB stressed the importance of ensuring that candidates' identity details are accurate from the outset, as these details form the basis of their records. Prospective candidates were urged to double-check their information before proceeding with the profile creation process.
