JAMB lists errors UTME, DE candidates should avoid during profile creation

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned prospective candidates against making costly mistakes while creating their profiles for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) or Direct Entry registration. In a new advisory video released under its "JAMB Explained" series, the Board emphasized that a small error at the profile creation stage can lead to significant issues later in the admission process.

The advisory, aimed at "fresh candidates," highlighted that errors in names and dates of birth can cause problems during the admission process. JAMB stated that candidates' details, including their National Identity Number, are obtained from the National Identity Management Commission records and are not created or edited by the Board itself.

Thus, if there is any error with a candidate's name or date of birth, JAMB cannot correct it after registration. The Board also cautioned candidates against relying on obtaining an affidavit to rectify their records with JAMB. The advisory stressed the importance of ensuring candidates' identity details are accurate from the outset, as these details form the basis of their records. Prospective candidates are urged to verify their details before proceeding with profile creation.
