'Heard a whisper': Baby rescued from rubble 48 hrs after Colombia quake - video

In Cali, Colombia, a baby was rescued alive from the ruins of a collapsed residential building nearly 48 hours after a 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck the country. Rescuers discovered the infant along with a trapped man after hearing a faint whisper-like sound emanating from the debris. Brian Osorio Zuluaga, who was on his motorbike returning home, witnessed the collapse of the five-story La Torres del Limonar residential complex and began calling for survivors despite the risk of a possible gas leak.

A man's voice soon emerged from the rubble, confirming that a baby was present. Once the rescuers cleared a path, they worked together to lift a large concrete slab blocking their way, allowing them to reach the pair. Upon removing the rubble, the baby's previously purplish head appeared healthy once more as his breathing resumed.

A man with a bloodied arm was also found partially trapped beneath a concrete plank. Rescuers managed to free the trapped man, and the infant was then carefully removed from the wreckage and taken to an ambulance by a police officer. The powerful earthquake was the strongest to hit Colombia in over a decade, resulting in more than 200 fatalities.
