Google Kicks Off Fall Hardware Season With New Pixel 11 Smartphones

Google has launched its new Pixel 11 smartphones, competing with Apple devices such as the iPhone and Apple Watch. The lineup includes the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11, Pixel Watch 5, and a Pixel Tag device. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold boasts a thinner and lighter design compared to its predecessor, featuring a 6.5-inch OLED display closed and an 8-inch OLED display when unfolded.

It measures 5.1mm when closed and 5.1mm when unfolded. One distinguishing feature is the HiLight LED lights that change colors for incoming calls or while communicating with Gemini. Other key specifications include a thinner bezel, up to 2,000 nits brightness, a 120Hz refresh rate, a glass fiber composite back cover, and a 2nm Tensor G6 chip with 16GB RAM.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is priced starting at $1,899 and can be pre-ordered from the Google Store. The other models, Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro XL, have 6.3 or 6.8-inch displays, peak brightness of 3,600 nits, and start at $1,099 and $1,299 respectively. The Pixel Watch 5 follows a similar design pattern to Google's smartwatches, with a 3,000-nit brightness display, improved GPS route tracking, sleep tracking, gemini integrations, and personalized strength coaching.

Notably, it can detect if the wearer stops breathing and informs emergency services. The Pixel Watch 5 is priced at $399. New software features include Gemini Intelligence, which can perform multistep tasks across apps, a Rambler voice input feature, a sign-to-text feature for American Sign Language, new location-based insights, contextually relevant text conversation suggestions, Magic Capture, Circle to Search, Live Translate, and Health Guardian, which monitors various health metrics.

The Pixel Tag device, priced at $29, is Google's response to the AirTag, offering similar tracking capabilities. The new product lineup is set to launch on August 20, just a few weeks before Apple unveils its latest smartphone and watch models.
