'It took less than five seconds': Volkswagen badges are being targeted by thieves for the radar tech behind them

A growing number of Volkswagen owners in southeast London are discovering that thieves are stealing the badges on their vehicles, often within just a few seconds. These badges are targeted for the expensive radar sensors hidden within, which help with radar-based cruise control functionality. The badges can cost around £1,500 to £3,000 to replace from a Volkswagen dealer.

Police believe around 70 of these thefts have occurred in a four-day spree, utilizing drones to locate the vehicles. Volkswagen UK is offering assistance to affected customers, but the issue appears to be concentrated in specific areas of London. The company emphasizes that they take vehicle security seriously and are working to prevent such crimes.
