Fahmi praises Bersatu MPs for taking part in Tabung Haji RCI report sitting

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil commended Bersatu MPs for participating in the Tabung Haji Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report session at a special parliamentary sitting. Fahmi argued that Bersatu MPs should have remained in the Dewan Rakyat, unlike their counterparts from other Perikatan Nasional opposition parties, such as PAS and Wawasan, who withdrew from the debate.

According to Fahmi, the establishment of the RCI in 2021 was when PAS leaders, including current opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin, were still part of the Cabinet, and the report was finalized in 2022 while they were still in office. Moreover, the religious affairs minister during that time was from PAS. When questioned about the need for a fresh RCI into the Tabung Haji's management and operations, Fahmi stated that the decision lies with the Cabinet, which would need the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to establish or expand the inquiry.

Fahmi also mentioned that the government would forward the RCI's findings to relevant authorities, incorporating information from the finance minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan and religious affairs minister Zulkifli Hasan.
