Education is government’s topmost priority – Vice President

Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang emphasized that education is the highest priority for the government, stating that meaningful change begins with educated citizens who are innovative, patriotic, and committed to the national cause. She highlighted education as the central focus of the national development agenda at the 15th Congregation ceremony of the KAAF University.

Vice President Opoku-Agyemang urged the graduating students to become active participants in the Resetting Ghana Agenda by displaying integrity, embracing innovation and entrepreneurship, rejecting corruption, creating jobs, solving community issues, and improving others' lives. She emphasized that the country stands at a crucial moment in its development and that the success of this mission depends on collaboration among governments, academia, industry, civil society, and each citizen.

The Vice President highlighted various government initiatives, such as the No-Fee Stress initiative, the reform of the Students Loan Trust Fund, and the Teacher Housing Initiative, which aim to alleviate students' financial burdens and provide adequate housing for educators. She also discussed the launch of Ghana's National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, praising KAAF University for its commitment to producing graduates equipped with knowledge, values, and practical skills for a technology-driven world.

The Vice President commended the institution for integrating digital literacy and emerging technologies into its academic programs and called upon it to promote interdisciplinary research, support technology-based entrepreneurship, and prepare graduates to use artificial intelligence responsibly. The Vice President, who served as a former Vice Chancellor at the University of Cape Coast, praised the university for its role in advancing engineering excellence, sustainable infrastructure, digital innovation, and natural business leadership, while also training skilled healthcare professionals and legal practitioners committed to justice and the rule of law.

She urged the university to strengthen its research and partnerships with industry to continue producing graduates whose skills align with the country's development aspirations. The Vice President commended the university's dedicated faculty, administrators, and support staff for their tireless efforts and hoped that together they would continue transforming lives and strengthening Ghana's future.
