Celebrate I-Day with honour, pride, take pledge for developed India: PM Modi

On the occasion of India's 80th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called upon citizens to celebrate the day with honor, pride, and determination to build a developed India. In a weekly NDA 'Mangal Milan' meeting at Parliament, each member of Parliament waved the tricolor flag while chanting patriotic slogans like "Bharat Mata ki Jai" and "Vande Mataram."

The Prime Minister also urged people to join the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign by hoisting the tricolor at every home, saying, "Let us pay tribute to our freedom fighters. Let us take a pledge for a developed India. Har Ghar Tiranga, Ghar Ghar Tiranga, Har Mann Tiranga. Come, let us hoist the tricolour at every home."

Upon entering the meeting venue at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium, the Prime Minister was greeted by a chorus of flag-waving ministers and MPs, who sang both "Vande Mataram" and "Bharat Mata Ki Jai." The attendees included BJP President Nitin Nabin, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Nitin Gadkari, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and S Jaishankar. Representatives from NDA constituent parties, such as the JDS, TDP, RSP-A, NCP, RLM, and NCPI, were also present.

Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Paatil delivered a presentation on various aspects of his ministry, which focuses on policy guidelines and programs for water resource development, conservation, and management. Finance Minister Sitharaman received praise from the Prime Minister for her recent speech in the Rajya Sabha, where she criticized opposition MPs regarding the Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and the Bankers' Books Evidence Bill, 2026.
