Auto sales hit 18,818 units in July

In July, car, pickup, van, and jeep sales in Pakistan surged by 79% year-on-year, reaching 18,818 units. However, the month-on-month figure declined by 13%, attributed to uncertainty about the new auto policy. This annual increase was driven by new market entrants, product launches, and a rise in auto financing, according to Myesha Sohail of Topline Securities, who anticipates continued positive momentum in auto sales for FY27, with double-digit growth fueled by new variants and brand entries.

Among vehicles below 1,000cc, Suzuki Alto and Every sales rose significantly, with 7,217 and 492 units sold in July, respectively, up from 2,327 and 230 units in the same month last year. Meanwhile, truck and bus sales jumped by 169% and 14% to 854 and 65 units in July, while farm tractor sales increased by 4% to 1,242 units. Two- and three-wheeler sales grew by 38% year-on-year to 172,416 units.

The Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) reported that sales of vehicles 1,300cc and above increased by 111% year-on-year to 9,066 units in July, with Suzuki Swift leading the surge at 287% growth, followed by Honda Civic and Honda City with a 121% jump. In the 1,000cc segment, Suzuki Cultus sales rose by 64% to 392 units in July.

Suzuki sales in two- and three-wheelers grew by 29% to 3,259 units, while Toyota Fortuner/Revo sales declined by 12% to 806 units, and Hyundai Tucson sales were at 171 units. Honda BRV and HRV sales dropped to 111 units, while Sazgar's Havel/Tank sales decreased by 39% year-on-year to 663 units. JAC's pickup sales surged by 140% year-on-year to 357 units.
