Transfer: Araujo’s shirt number at Liverpool confirmed

Ronald Araujo has been assigned the number 33 shirt at Liverpool after joining the club on a season-long loan from Barcelona. The 27-year-old Spanish defender's move to Merseyside includes an option to buy, according to the agreement between the two clubs. Araujo arrived in Liverpool on Sunday and has already completed his medical tests.

The defender expressed his satisfaction with the transfer, stating that it was the right move for him at this stage in his career. He believes the opportunity came at the right time, as Barcelona manager Hansi Flick could not guarantee him sufficient playing time this season. Araujo mentioned that once he heard about the interest from Liverpool, he acted swiftly.

Araujo's arrival at Liverpool is a result of his departure from Barcelona after eight years of service. The Spanish club did not provide him with enough playing time, leading to his transfer. Araujo will step in as a cover player for Liverpool's defense, filling the gap left by Joe Gomez, who suffered a muscle injury during the preseason. Additionally, teenage center-back Giovanni Leoni is still recovering from an ACL injury, while new signing Jeremy Jacquet has not yet played for the Reds.
