Tirupati RPF traces gold chain worth ₹3 lakh left on train by passenger

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Tirupati has successfully recovered and returned a gold chain, known as Mangalasutram, valued at around ₹3 lakh to a passenger who inadvertently left it on a train. The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, when the passenger, M. Kavitha and her husband M. Chiranjeevi from Darsi in Prakasam district, realized they had left the gold chain under the pillow on berth no. 20 of coach B-2 of train No. 17261 (Guntur–Tirupati) Express.

Upon receiving a complaint from the passengers, a team led by Tirupati RPF Inspector M. Sandeep Kumar conducted a thorough search in the concerned coach at the Tirupati Yard. The gold chain, weighing approximately 24 grams, was found underneath the pillow on the same berth and was subsequently returned to the passenger and her husband after completing necessary verification and formalities.

The passengers expressed their gratitude for the prompt and dedicated efforts of the RPF in retrieving their valuable ornament following their darshan at the Tirumala holy shrine.
