After 10 years, Terraria's biggest mod shuts down due to an 'irrecoverably tainted reputation' and grooming allegations

Terraria's popular mod Calamity is shutting down after a decade-long run, according to an announcement posted on the mod's Discord server. The decision comes after extensive internal debate and widespread dissatisfaction among its development team and contributors. The mod, which has been a crown jewel for Terraria for the past 10 years, has been plagued by a tainted reputation due to allegations and accusations surrounding its former leader, Ozzatron.

According to the source, Ozzatron was accused of being involved with and permissive of a non-safe-for-work (NSFW) server that knowingly included minors. These allegations reportedly continued even after a similar grooming behavior accusation against a previous leader, Fabisol, in 2022. The source also mentions a pattern of misconduct involving the server, where underaged users were present without being removed and were even re-invited after leaving in panic.

In response to these allegations and the lack of passion for the mod due to the "irrecoverably tainted reputation," many of its development team and contributors have chosen to leave the mod project. Ozzatron, who took over the mod's development after Fabisol, has been uncommunicative for over a day, and there are strong reasons to believe that he has no intention of compensating the contributors for their labor.

Due to the overwhelming number of requests to remove their contributions from the mod, the development team has decided that ceasing development is the only feasible solution.
