Botafogo beat Grêmio, close in on Brasileirão U17 top eight

Botafogo secured a 3-1 victory over Grêmio in the 11th round of the Brasileirão U-17, held at Airton Ferreira da Silva in Eldorado do Sul. Goals from Bernardo Germano (2) and Gustavo Xisto (1) were the difference, leaving Grêmio just one point behind América-MG, who occupy the eighth position with 16 points. The top eight teams in the standings secure a spot in the quarterfinals.

Botafogo currently sits in 15th place with 10 points, but they can be overtaken this round. To maintain their position, they will need assistance from slip-ups by Santos (14 points), Internacional (13), and São Paulo (13). The race for first place is intense, with Fluminense leading the pack with 23 points. The gap to sixth place, occupied by Red Bull Bragantino, is just four points. Corinthians and Palmeiras follow at 22 points each, while Athletico-PR and Cruzeiro sit at 20.
