Tanko rejects calls for Muslim-Muslim ticket, backs Obi-Kwankwaso

Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahya Jingir, the National Chairman of the Jama’atu Ahlus Sunnah Wal-Jama’ah (JIBWIS), has maintained his stance that Nigerians should vote for Muslim-Muslim tickets. He questioned why Christians would demand voting within their own community but were hesitant to advocate for voting for their own. Responding to the national debate sparked by his remarks, Sheikh Jingir expressed his belief that voting Muslim-Muslim is what he stands for.

In Plateau State, where Nigerian Muslims have lived before the state's creation, Christians had opposed their presence and demanded their expulsion. He cited an example where, in his area of dominance, 100,000 votes were cast for a councillor, while in another, a person who went to the National Assembly received only 15,000 votes.

He argued that such discrepancies lack justice. The cleric emphasized that his Muslim-Muslim ticket is not limited to candidates Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima, but rather any Muslim who shares his perspective on the suffering of Nigerian Muslims due to leaders' deaths. Regarding the killings of Nigerian Muslim leaders, Sheikh Jingir attributed the murder of Sardauna to Major Nzeogwu Kaduna and claimed that President Musa Yar’Adua's demise was predicted by those who said he would die within six months, despite his survival for two years.

He further elaborated that the historical dislike for Nigerian Muslims among Christians remained unchanged. Sheikh Jingir clarified that his calls for Muslim-Muslim tickets were not a recent development but a long-standing position, even before Tinubu's acceptance.
