Stephanie White rips 'narratives' around her team, Fever defend coach

Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White passionately denounced online narratives and hate directed at her and her team ahead of their game against the New York Liberty. She emphasized that her primary focus is on the players' success, health, and wellness, with player safety being a top priority. White prides herself on her relationships with her players.

Shortly after her comments, Indiana Fever president Kelly Krauskopf released a supportive statement, praising White's leadership and the team's position for a playoff push. The remarks come amid online narratives surrounding the team, particularly following an incident where White defended DiJonai Carrington, a former Fever player, after she hit Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham in the face during a game.

Carrington was ejected for a flagrant 2 foul. White stood by her decision, stating that Carrington is committed and will play hard, and that she believed the ejection was justified. Despite the controversy, the Fever have been playing exceptionally well, currently fourth in the standings with a 20-12 record and numerous individual awards, including Player of the Month honors for Clark and Mitchell, and Coach of the Month for White.
