(Picture Bernama) Petaling Jaya: Wawasan's National Chief of State, Hanifah Abu Baker, may join the party, speculation, said election officials. Election officials said Wawasan welcomes all parties and is focusing on strengthening its political power.

The speculation arose after several social media posts claimed that Hanifah, who is also a Bersatu candidate in Labu DUN for the upcoming Negeri Sembilan PRN, met with Wawasan President Hamzah Zainudin. Chegubard confirmed the meeting happened and denied speculation that Hanifah met Hamzah to reveal personal matters involving Bersatu President Muhyiddin Yassin and Deputy Chief Azmin Ali.

Although Hanifah had previously criticized him, Hamzah and the party, Chegubard said the Wawasan president is an open-minded leader and does not hold grudges. Chegubard also said Wawasan does not want to continue being entangled in past disputes. "For us, this is about building strength for the future. We should not only look back at the past.

In striving for a greater agenda, Wawasan must be inclusive and accept everyone as a member," he said. "Hanifah apparently came to expose the secrets of Muhyiddin, Azmin, and others. But for us, such matters are not important," he added. Meanwhile, an unnamed PAS leadership member said Hanifah met Hamzah with the knowledge of several state leaders.

"Hanifa also clarified to Muhyiddin. He told us about the details of the conversation. Hanifah told us that she will remain with Bersatu and rejected Hamzah's offer," the leader said without elaborating further. Hamzah established Wawasan after being expelled from Bersatu as the interim president's successor amid leadership crisis with Muhyiddin.

The party formally joined Perikatan Nasional (PN) last month despite resistance from Bersatu, which questioned the process and legitimacy of the decision.
