Russian Drone Hits 5-Story Residential Building in Odesa

A Russian attack drone targeted a five-story residential building in Odesa on Tuesday night, causing damage to an apartment within the structure. Odesa regional governor Oleh Kiper confirmed the incident and later reported that no casualties had been reported as of 12:30 a.m. on August 12. Odesa City Military Administration head Serhii Lysak stated that the drone struck an apartment on the fifth floor, and fortunately, the residents were not present at the time.

Emergency and municipal crews were on-site, and authorities established an operational headquarters to manage the aftermath. Ukraine's Air Force had previously warned of a Russian attack drone heading towards Odesa from the Black Sea and later detected additional groups of strike UAVs moving towards the city and neighboring Mykolaiv regions.

The residential-building strike followed another Russian attack hours earlier, which killed two people and injured three others when a Russian munition struck a tanker truck carrying residual vegetable oil, causing it and another vehicle to catch fire. These incidents underscore Russia's ongoing campaign of drone and missile strikes against Odesa and its surrounding areas, persistently targeting residential regions and critical infrastructure in Ukraine's Black Sea region.
