Calgary boy, 9, recovering in hospital after nearly drowning in B.C. river

Nine-year-old Calgary boy Paul-Angelo Warren is in hospital recovering after nearly drowning in a B.C. river. The incident occurred on Aug. 3 when he was swimming and diving in the Shuswap River near Enderby. His mother, Maria Warren, says beachgoers rushed to help, pulling her son out of the water just minutes after he disappeared.

An RCMP report states the boy was pinned against fallen deadwood by the river's current before being brought to shore and given CPR. Police believe he may have been submerged for up to 10 minutes. The young boy is currently at Vancouver Children’s Hospital with his family by his side. His mother, Maria, expressed concern, saying she always stays with him, wanting to ensure he sees her face and hears her voice when he opens his eyes.
