Pemuda gesa PH jangan jadi ‘pendinding’ BN, nilai semula kerjasama

Angkatan Muda Harapan (AMH) has called for Pakatan Harapan (PH) to reevaluate its cooperation with Barisan Nasional (BN), while emphasizing that such collaboration should not be viewed as hindering the other. This warning comes as AMH warns that this stance could weaken and tarnish the image of PH, especially in light of ongoing political developments demanding a fresh examination of the form, mechanisms, and future of cooperation between both alliances.

"Pakatan Harapan cannot be viewed as a 'watchdog' against BN in light of various past issues which ultimately weaken and tarnish the image of Pakatan Harapan," stated AMH. The statement was issued by AMH Chairman Woo Kah Leong, PKR Youth Leader Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim and Amanah Youth Leader Hasbie Muda. AMH also expressed concerns that political cooperation cannot be built solely on electoral projections, instead it needs to be based on trust, respect, and commitment to shared principles.

AMH urges PH across all states to be given space to express views and reassess the dynamics of cooperation with BN according to each state's political situation. AMH also demands strong action against any scandal allegations, misuse of power, misappropriation of funds or conflicts of interest involving government-linked companies (GLCs), state-owned enterprises and entities using public funds, regardless of the political position of those involved.

On democracy, the group urges the reform of the Representation of the People Act to continue protecting the right to assembly, criticizing the government and expressing dissent in a peaceful manner. AMH also proposes that STPM students with a CGPA of 4.0 and STAM students with a Mumtaz award be given priority when applying to public higher education institutions, subject to program suitability, capacity, and field of study.

On subsidies, AMH wants the government to increase the BUDI95 eligibility threshold from 200 liters to 300 liters per month, especially for those who rely on private vehicles for work, trade, and family care. AMH also wants the Budi Madani Diesel mechanism to be re-evaluated to be fairer and easier to understand, preventing the disenfranchisement of those truly in need due to the registration or eligibility assessment process.

According to AMH, these five demands reflect the public's desire to see action on subsidies, public fund protection, empowerment without favoritism, politically based cooperation, and opportunities for young education.
