Mentality key to Premier League revival for Spurs, says De Zerbi

Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi emphasized that the team's mentality and commitment are vital for their revival in the Premier League. After two seasons near the bottom of the table, De Zerbi took charge in March and guided the club to safety by finishing just one place above the relegation zone. The manager believes that merely signing new players during the summer transfer window will not guarantee long-term success.

He stated, "We have to find the condition to build a strong team, than the last seasons to compete again for the top of the table."

De Zerbi, in an interview on the Men in Blazers YouTube channel, highlighted the importance of the team's spirit, passion, and mentality. He explained that while he focuses on finding ways to improve the team in the future, he also wants supporters to recognize Tottenham not only through their style of play but also through their commitment and character. "I would like when we go to play in the Premier League, the people recognize one's soul, passion, value of the player," he said.

De Zerbi added that the qualities of individual players are not sufficient for Tottenham to compete with top teams in the world, including the Premier League. He stated, "If you don't put something more, something of yourself, something you feel inside of you, it's very tough to now compete with the top teams in the world, in the Premier League." Tottenham's season kicks off against Brentford on August 22.
