King orders full probe into Tabung Haji RCI findings

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 — His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, has directed a thorough and open investigation into the findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report concerning the Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), according to The Star. Zulkifli Hasan, the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department for Religious Affairs, disclosed that the King's instruction was carried out with no room for compromise, leaving no detail unexamined.

He emphasized the significance of maintaining Muslims' trust and confidence in Malaysia's Haj management and Islamic financial institutions, aligning with the Madani government's dedication. The Cabinet unanimously examined the RCI report on July 29 and opted to make it public through tabling and deliberation during a special parliamentary session.

The Cabinet also agreed on conducting a comprehensive investigation immediately by the enforcement authorities based on the RCI findings. Consequently, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and police swiftly initiated further investigations and apprehended several individuals involved in alleged misconduct highlighted in the RCI report, showcasing the government's and enforcement agencies' unwavering commitment to preventing any compromise against parties implicated in abuse of power or criminal misuse of Haj pilgrims' assets and funds.
