King orders full probe into Tabung Haji RCI findings

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 — The King of Malaysia has directed a thorough and open investigation into the findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on the Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), according to Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Zulkifli Hasan. Zulkifli informed that the King's mandate emphasizes the significance of preserving the trust and confidence of Muslims in the country's Haj management and Islamic financial institutions, aligning with the Madani government's dedication.

The Cabinet unanimously reviewed the RCI report on July 29 and opted to make it public by tabling and debating it during a special parliamentary session. Additionally, the Cabinet authorized an immediate full investigation by enforcement authorities based on the RCI findings. Subsequently, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and police swiftly initiated follow-up investigations and apprehended several individuals connected to alleged misconduct mentioned in the RCI report.

These actions demonstrate the government's and enforcement authorities' unwavering commitment to ensuring no compromise against any party involved in power abuse or criminal misuse of funds belonging to the country's Haj pilgrims.
