Katsina United player Ozoh Chinedu dies during match

Katsina United Football Club mourns the loss of their player, Ozoh Chinedu, who passed away during a pre-season friendly match on Tuesday. Ozoh, a newly signed player from Kano Pillars FC, was involved in a match against Niger Tornadoes FC at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina. The club announced his death in a statement titled 'Sad news: Katsina United player Ozoh Chinedu dies during pre-season friendly,' posted on their Facebook page.

During the match, Ozoh experienced a medical emergency and was rushed to K-Dara Specialist Hospital in Katsina. Despite medical efforts, he tragically lost his life in the early hours of Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The club expressed their shock and grief over the sudden death of the player, noting that it came as he was preparing for the new football season.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation. The football community in Katsina State and Nigeria is in mourning for the young footballer whose career was cut short.
