KAI rescues four nursing mothers, babies from Lagos dumpsite

The Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps, known as KAI, has rescued four nursing mothers and their infants from an illegal dumpsite in Agboju, Lagos. Corps Marshal Major Olaniyi Cole revealed this during a statement on Tuesday, following a week-long inter-agency cleanup of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway corridor. Cole stated that the team discovered nursing mothers living in deplorable conditions in the dumpsite and shanties, leading to their rescue and provision of medical assistance.

The rescued mothers were Fareedat Muyideen, Ayomide Ayomoke, Amanda Oziema Abalihi, and Chisom Ugo, each accompanied by their babies. Cole emphasized the urgency of the rescue to prevent potential fatalities, citing the appalling living conditions of the women. He emphasized the importance of proper birth registration, calling it a fundamental right for every child.
