Jordan Martinook brings Stanley Cup home to Leduc

Jordan Martinook, member of the Carolina Hurricanes, brought the Stanley Cup back to his hometown of Leduc. Martinook, the team's forward and alternate captain, took the opportunity to showcase the prestigious trophy in his hometown, where he grew up playing hockey. Hundreds of fans gathered at the Leduc Recreation Centre to celebrate the occasion.

Martinook expressed his joy, stating that winning the Cup represented the culmination of his life-long dedication to the sport. He emphasized the emotional significance of sharing the trophy with his hometown. This marks the first time that a player from Leduc has brought the Cup back to their community. The Hurricanes secured their championship earlier this summer by defeating the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 6.

The trophy was escorted to Leduc from the Edmonton International Airport by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The Stanley Cup, which travels around the world during the summer, was accompanied by a representative from the Hockey Hall of Fame. The tradition began in 1995 and has taken the Cup to over 25 countries, including Afghanistan, Austria, and the United States.
