Johor has formed a special task force to investigate allegations of Singapore dumping construction waste debris in Pontian, according to Exco Johor member Jafni Md Shukor. The force, which includes local authorities, police, district offices, and the Public Cleansing and Waste Management Authority, is currently conducting the probe, including in Sungai Karang and other locations.

The operation to stop the disposal of construction waste from Singapore in the area has already ceased, but this issue cannot be left unresolved. Shukor emphasized that strong enforcement action is necessary to prevent similar incidents and protect the interests of Johor's residents and environment. He stated that no compromises will be made in this matter.

Regarding those violating the law, action will be taken, and they will not be compromised, according to a report by Berita Harian when reviewing premises where illegal recycling operations were allegedly taking place at Jalan Kempas Lama-Seelong in Johor Bahru. He noted that the continuous movement and practice of transporting construction waste from Singapore, which began two years ago, not only endangered lives but also caused residents' homes to collapse and posed a risk of accidents to motorcyclists.

It is believed that the activities and transportation began at night and continued early in the morning, affecting various areas such as Parit Sikom, Batu 26 Jeram Batu-Pengkalan Raja, Kampung Parit Rambai, Kampung Sungai Dinar, and Mukim Sungai Karang. Residents questioned how the construction waste could bypass border controls before being dumped at the makeshift disposal site, believed to be privately owned.
