Jacobs wins contract for $750M Utah water canal project

The Central Utah Water Conservancy District has chosen Jacobs to oversee engineering services for a $750 million water canal project in Utah. The Strawberry High Line Improvement Project aims to modernize the historic Strawberry High Line Canal, converting it from an open-water system to a pressurized water delivery network. The project will replace the existing canal with a buried pipeline while creating an integrated regional trail along the route.

Jacobs is partnering with Bowen Collins & Associates to deliver design and construction-phase support for the endeavor. The revamped canal, which currently serves agricultural and municipal needs in south Utah County and eastern Juab County, will be expanded to support an anticipated population of 420,000 people. The project's estimated construction cost is $750 million.

Jacobs Executive Vice President Tom Meinhart emphasized the importance of upgrading critical water infrastructure to maintain community growth and vitality. With a $12 billion annual revenue and over 47,000 employees, Jacobs provides services across various sectors, including water.
