Inquest into Seremban schoolboy’s death to begin next month

The inquest into the death of 10-year-old Iman Zhafran Abdullah, who passed away after being found unconscious at a school in Senawang, Seremban, will commence next month. The coroner, Tasnim Abu Bakar, has scheduled the hearings for September 14, September 21, October 5-7, October 21, and October 28, with each session starting at 2.30 pm.

Officer assisting the inquest, Norazihah Asmuni, informed the coroner that 51 witnesses, comprising teachers, pupils, and Iman's friends, are expected to testify. Lawyer Yazid Salim, representing the victim's family, requested permission to cross-examine the witnesses and seek the court's permission for the disclosure of documents, with copies to be made available to both lawyers and the family.

The victim's parents, Hafizuddin Abdullah and Zuzita Murib Sagita, accompanied him to the court. Iman was discovered unconscious in the school grounds on October 1, 2025, after leaving his classroom at 12:10 pm. He was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. A post-mortem examination on October 2 revealed that the cause of death was neck compression, with no other injuries found on the body. The police probed the possibility of bullying and collected statements from 49 witnesses.
