Inquest into Seremban schoolboy’s death to begin next month

An inquest into the death of 10-year-old Iman Zhafran Abdullah is scheduled to commence next month, according to Coroner Tasnim Abu Bakar. Iman tragically passed away after being found unconscious at his school in Senawang, Seremban, in October 2025. Assistant coroner Norazihah Asmuni informed the coroner that 51 witnesses, comprising teachers, students, and Iman's friends, will be called to testify during the proceedings.

The seven-day schedule for the inquest has been set by Tasnim, with sessions beginning at 2.30pm. The first hearing is scheduled for September 14, followed by September 21 and October 5-7, before continuing on October 21 and 28. The court has been presented with a request by lawyer Yazid Salim, representing Iman's family, to allow for witness examination and document disclosure. The victim's parents, Hafizuddin Abdullah and Zuzita Murib Sagita, were present in court during the proceedings.

On October 1, 2025, Iman was found unconscious in his school. He had left his classroom at 12:10pm before being discovered in the school grounds. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A post-mortem examination on October 2 revealed that the cause of death was compression of the neck, with no other injuries found on the body. Police investigations had previously explored the possibility of bullying and had collected statements from 49 witnesses.
