French media asks French anti-trust watchdog to act on Google's AI

Paris, August 11 - French media organizations have petitioned the country's anti-trust authority to intervene regarding Google's AI-generated article summaries, according to a press trade association. These summaries, the media argue, are causing a loss of traffic for traditional outlets. The request comes following the regulator's recent decision in July to compel Meta to outline a payment strategy and resume negotiations with journalistic entities seeking compensation for utilizing their content on platforms, such as AI tools. As of now, Google has not issued a statement on the matter.
