Dr Zaliha questions PN’s Tabung Haji RCI walkout, says debate should not be avoided

Dr Zaliha Mustafa, chairman of the Madani Government Backbenchers Club, criticized Perikatan Nasional (PN) MPs for walking out of a special Dewan Rakyat session discussing the Tabung Haji Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report. She questioned the seriousness of opposition MPs in addressing issues surrounding the pilgrimage fund, stating that they should have remained in parliament to scrutinize, challenge, and debate the findings rather than leaving.

Dr Zaliha emphasized that if the opposition disagreed with any of the RCI findings, they should have presented facts and challenged them within the chamber. She expressed disappointment that the debate involved matters related to Tabung Haji's management and accountability, which hold savings for millions of depositors. Dr Zaliha also criticized the opposition's past claims of championing Islamic issues, stating that these commitments should be demonstrated through parliamentary debate rather than merely making statements outside the House.

She urged opposition MPs to remain in the Dewan, study the report, and debate every issue they disagreed with, rather than choosing to walk out when faced with the facts.
