Commission confirms Fadiel Adams unlikely to testify on Tuesday

The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry has stated that National Coloured Congress MP Fadiel Adams is unlikely to provide testimony on Tuesday. Commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels disclosed that Adams’ evidence leaders received a sworn affidavit and related annexures from him only after 9:00 PM on Monday night. Michaels explained that due to this late receipt of evidence, the commission’s evidence leaders are likely to request a postponement to allow for necessary consultations before Adams testifies.

Adams has been implicated in relation to the Section 27 affidavit that led to the arrest of seven Crime Intelligence officials. It has been alleged that IDAC investigator Dylan Perumal had solicited the referral from Adams. However, former IDAC head Advocate Andrea Johnson has acknowledged that the method of solicitation of the affidavit from Adams raises legal questions. The Madlanga Commission proceedings are set to resume on Tuesday.
