Cakap macam jaguh pertahan kepentingan Islam, tapi enggan bahas RCI TH, kata Zaliha

Pengerusi Kelab Penyokong Kerajaan Dr Zaliha Mustafa has criticized the act of many Progressive Voters boycotting the Dewan Rakyat for not discussing the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on the Tabung Haji (TH) fund. Despite often speaking like the most stringent defenders of Islam and Islamic interests, Dr Zaliha is puzzled as to why they chose to leave Parliament when given the opportunity to question, challenge, and discuss the RCI report.

She questioned who is unwilling to examine this issue in her Facebook post. Dr Zaliha stated that she is willing to discuss the RCI report with facts, including if she needs to defend those she believes need protection. However, she emphasized that leaving the chamber to discuss deceit, trust, Islam, and Islamic interests, then choosing to leave when it was time to present facts in Parliament is unacceptable.

Putrajaya MP Radzi Jidin stated that the Bersatu deputy is still present in the chamber and asserted that they are indeed Progressive Voters. Bersatu MPs are the dissenters; we will not walk out. This is a crucial issue for the people, and there is no need for political drama. They even asked for the extension of the discussion period.

Today, dissidents walked out of the Dewan Rakyat and refused to continue the discussion of the RCI report after Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim did not attend the special session. Prior to this, Whip of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Takiyuddin Hassan said that Anwar's presence was crucial for providing a thorough explanation regarding the report, especially since the special session was convened at the Prime Minister's request.

However, Speaker Johari Abdul emphasized that he is bound by Dewan Rakyat Rule 11(3) after receiving Anwar's request to hold the special session, leaving no choice but to proceed with it. Johari also stressed that Anwar's absence does not mean the government is not represented, as other deputy prime ministers and ministers were present to represent the Cabinet.
