Bukit Aman sends narcotics team to Jakarta to question Malaysian pilot held with 26kg ecstasy

On August 11, a narcotics investigation team from Bukit Aman arrived in Jakarta to question a Malaysian pilot who was arrested for possession of drugs at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The team, consisting of four officers, was given two days, from August 12 to 13, to interrogate the suspect. The pilot, a 39-year-old Malaysia Airlines pilot, was apprehended on July 28 as he arrived from Kuala Lumpur, following the discovery of over 26 kilograms of ecstasy tablets and a small amount of methamphetamine in his suitcase.

Director of the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department, Commissioner Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, announced that the team's primary objective was to gather additional information from the suspect, allowing for comparison with their findings at Bukit Aman. In a press conference at the Selangor contingent headquarters, he disclosed that investigators were actively pursuing the alleged syndicate members responsible for the drug distribution, albeit facing challenges due to the use of false or inaccurate phone numbers for communication.

Hussein acknowledged that four to five individuals had been questioned so far, aiming to determine if an insider was involved in the case. However, he emphasized that while the gathered statement was satisfactory, it was premature to definitively conclude the involvement of an insider without substantial evidence. At the same time, he did not exclude the possibility of insider involvement.
