Water outage forces Chessington theme park to close

Chessington World of Adventures theme park was forced to close for the day due to a burst water main affecting south-west London. Thames Water confirmed the incident, stating a burst on Leatherhead Road had disrupted water supplies to customers in the KT9 area. The company's spokesperson apologized to those without water and those whose plans to visit the park had been affected.

Thames Water assured most customers would have their supply restored by 13:20 BST, with temporary measures in place while a permanent repair was underway. Low pressure might be experienced briefly as the flow returned to normal. Chessington World of Adventures issued a statement, describing the situation as operational disruption due to the burst water main.

The attraction would remain closed until normal operations were restored as safely and quickly as possible. Guests with tickets for Monday, August 10th, would see their tickets revalidated for a future date, while those unable to return on another day were offered a refund. The resort, located in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, is owned by Merlin Entertainments. The summer holidays, a peak period for UK theme parks, saw the closure taking place.
