Water outage forces Chessington theme park to close

Chessington World of Adventures theme park has temporarily closed its gates due to a burst water main that disrupted water supplies in parts of south-west London. Thames Water confirmed that a burst on Leatherhead Road had affected customers in the KT9 area and their experts were on-site to make repairs. The company apologized to those without water and visitors who had planned to attend the park.

Most customers should have had their supply restored by 13:20 BST, with temporary measures in place until the permanent repair was completed. Some guests may experience low pressure during the restoration process, Thames Water added. Chessington World of Adventures expressed that it is currently dealing with operational disruption caused by the burst water main, affecting the local area.

The attraction remains closed as teams work closely with Thames Water and local partners to restore normal operations safely and swiftly. Guests with tickets for Monday, August 10th, will see their tickets revalidated for a future visit. Those unable to return at another time have been offered refunds upon contacting the resort's help center.

The closure occurs during the peak school summer holidays, a busy period for UK theme parks. Chessington World of Adventures, located in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, is owned by Merlin Entertainments.
