Vertiv to create 300 jobs in the northwest

Technology giant Vertiv plans to expand its operations in Co Donegal, creating 300 new jobs in the northwest. The global leader in critical digital infrastructure will apply to Donegal County Council for an extra 7,000 square meters at its Letterkenny facility. This growth is fueled by rising demand for AI, colocation, and hyperscale data centre solutions.

Hyperscale data centres are commonly linked to large data producers, while colocation involves renting space in third-party data centers. The new positions will primarily be engineering and operational roles that will enhance manufacturing capacity and technical expertise. Tánaiste Micheál Martin welcomed the news, emphasizing that such investments foster balanced regional development and signal international companies' ongoing confidence in Ireland's long-term growth potential.

Vertiv's Europe President, Paul Ryan, highlighted the strategic importance of the northwest and Ireland as Vertiv expands its footprint. The project is backed by the government through IDA Ireland. Vertiv already has facilities in Co Donegal, County Derry, Limerick, and Dublin. The New York Stock Exchange-listed company operates in over 130 countries and has hired more than 500 employees at its Irish sites since the beginning of the year, continuing to recruit.

Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke, noted that the investment demonstrates Letterkenny's ability to attract investment from a global critical digital infrastructure leader. He added that this expansion will enable professionals to build careers within a global organization while enjoying the northwest's unique quality of life.

IDA Ireland's CEO, Michael Lohan, praised Vertiv's expansion as an example of how global companies can establish high-value operations from regional locations, reflecting the local team's capability, the northwest's talent pool, and the significance of Vertiv's Irish operations in its global business.
