Travelodge staff gave domestic abuser key to his victim's room

A woman, referred to as Lucy, recounted her terrifying experience of being attacked by her abuser in her hotel room at a Travelodge in London. According to Lucy, a domestic violence victim, the abuser obtained her key from hotel staff after falsely claiming his girlfriend was having a seizure. Upon entering her room, the abuser kicked the door off its hinges, forcing his way back in after Lucy managed to convince him to leave.

Despite the hotel's internal dead-bolt locks and electric key-card locks, the abuser managed to regain access. Travelodge responded by stating that while such incidents are rare, customer safety and security are top priorities, with staff undergoing recent training. However, Lucy expressed that she now fears staying in hotels due to the traumatic experience.
